This role is responsible for job costing, budgeting, financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of construction accounting principles, including percentage-of-completion accounting, and thrives in a fast-paced project environment.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Construction Accountant to manage financial operations specific to construction projects. This role is responsible for job costing, budgeting, financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of construction accounting principles, including percentage-of-completion accounting, and thrives in a fast-paced project environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and manage job cost accounting for multiple construction projects
- Track project budgets, costs, and profitability; identify variances and provide analysis
- Prepare monthly financial statements, including WIP (Work-in-Progress) schedules
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes related to vendors, subcontractors, and clients
- Manage construction billing, including progress billing and lien waivers
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, including sales tax and payroll tax reporting
- Collaborate with project managers to monitor financial performance and forecast costs
- Assist with audits and provide necessary documentation
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and maintain accurate financial records
- Support cash flow management and forecasting
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA not required but preferred
- 4-6 years of accounting experience, preferably in construction or project-based industries
- Strong knowledge of job costing and construction accounting methods (e.g., percentage of completion)
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Yardi)
- Advanced Excel skills
- Solid understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
- Experience with construction management software (e.g., Procore)
- Familiarity with contract management and compliance requirements
